Why We Practice

Albany Crew has three season: fall, winter, and spring. Fall and Spring are on the water, while the winter is held primarily in the team's ergroom. The team competes in four to five races each water season. Also, winter competitions on the ergometer are attended. Official dates and times can be found for this year in the "Schedules" section.

Novice Team

Albany Crew's novice team is open to students and faculty of all level. No previouse rowing experience is necessary. The team pratices daily 5:30-7:15pm at the Island Creek Boathouse for water seasons and the team's ergroom for winter seasons. Practice generally commenses within the first two weeks of the school year.

Varsity Team

Albany Crew's varisty team is open to novice rowers that have completed 2 semesters at the novice level. Exceptions are made for experienced rowers from the high school, but generally the college level. The team practices daily 5:15-7:15am at the Island Creek Boathouse for water seasons and the team's ergroom for winter seasons. Practice commenses at the start of semester, returning rowers should contact their captain for more information.

Boathouse

From Collins' Circle via Washington Ave. Take a left onto Washington Ave and follow signs for I-90 East. The onramp will be on your right. Follow I-90 East to I-787. Take I-787 South towards Albany to exit 3B. Take a left at the light and follow around, going under the overpass and taking a right at the next light by the U-Haul Building. The boathouse is about 1/2 mile down the road on the left. It is a blue steel building.

Erg Room

Go to the Physical Education Building, the building situated on front of the track and football field. From the entrance at the bottom of the bleachers, at football field level facing the building, go in the set of doors on the right side. Go to the end of the small hallway and take a right, at the set of doors infront of you, take a left down the racketball hallway. Take a left through the first set of doors on your left, towards the end of the hallway, and the ergroom is the first set of doors on your right.
